As soon
as the Apple iPhone 5 was released people began to compare it with the Android
giant-Samsung Galaxy S3. Frankly speaking, these two handsets are all superb
and they each deserve their places on the market. Until now S3 remains one of
the best-selling devices of 2012 and iPhone 5 also sets a sky-high sales record
followed. These two best smartphones have gone head-to-head for an amazing
battle which has had people stunned by how far technology has moved, but once
again it’s up to you to decide which one suits you the best. Is it the brand
new iPhone 5, or the recently released Samsung Galaxy S3? I think below
comparison will help you make the decision quickly.
Display: when it comes to display, the Galaxy S III’s 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED
Plus 1280 x 720 screen offers rich and vibrant colors as well as lots of details.
And the iPhone 5 has a 4-inch display with resolution of 1136 x 640. That's a
326ppi, compared to 305ppi on the Galaxy S III. To be fair these are all
excellent displays and your choice may be very simply down to whether you
prefer a smaller display as on the iPhone 5 or a larger screen as on the Galaxy
S3.
Design:
As for
design, iPhone 5 is 7.6mm thick with metal casing and non-removable battery,
and Samsung Galaxy S3 is 8.6mm thick with plastic casing and removable batter.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in six color variants and is curvier and chunkier
than the iPhone 5. It’s wider, longer and fatter, weighing 133g.
Camera: Galaxy S3 has an 8-megapixel
rear-facing shooter with zero shutter lag and 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera
for video chat. The iPhone 5 camera is the same 8MP model as in the 4S,
although it now has an improved low light mode. The front camera takes 720p
videos. Samsung Galaxy S3 camera also has a burst mode, blink detection, smile
detection, and blurring or contrast choices. But these features don’t outweigh
the BSI sensor in the iPhone 5 that allows the phone to take great pictures in
dim conditions though. The iPhone 5 wins.
Operating
System: The
Galaxy S3, is another Android handset released on Android 4.0 ICS and currently
the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is rolling out to various carriers worldwide.
If you’re not a diehard Android enthusiast though, then your choice may be the
iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 6, which comes with an updated App Store and
improved iCloud support. Siri has also been revamped.
Processor: As for processor, the Samsung
Galaxy S III will get more nods with its 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon
processor with 2GB of RAM (quad-core Exynos with 1GB RAM for the international
version) – whereas, the iPhone 5 seems ill-equipped with its 1GHz dual-core
Apple A6 processor with 1GB of RAM. However, when it comes to real world
performance, the iPhone 5 exhibits the cleaner and more fluid performance with
various operations. Well, the Galaxy S III still displays one responsive
performance as well, but it doesn’t match the iPhone 5’s level of finesse.
Video
Playback:
Even though the two are able to play high-definition videos with no problems at
all, it’s simply the huge display of the Samsung Galaxy S III that captivates
us. Both Pack 4G LTE connectivity for the ride, so video enjoyment through
online dreaming is excellent (take YouTube as an example). But if you stayed in
places where lacks Wi-Fi, then problems occurs. How can you watch online videos
in YouTube or other websites leisurely? In fact you need to download YouTube
video to MP4 (both supports MP4 format) for offline playback. All you need to
do is to download YouTube video to MP4 with a YouTube to MP4 Downloader.
Storage: Both the iPhone 5 and the Samsung
Galaxy S3 have 16, 32 and 64GB models, but the S3 storage can be expanded by up
to another 64GB with an SD card, so Samsung wins this one.
Connectivity: Galaxy S3 supports 4G LTE,
gaining an edge over iPhone 4S but this lead is expected to be short-lived as
iPhone 5 will too support 4G LTE network in the U.S, very much like the new
iPad.
You
perhaps face an awkward dilemma when it comes to upgrading your phone. And this
is the very big question that most people have: iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S
III? In my opinion, it is just a matter of choice and personal tastes, so just pick
up the smartphone that makes you happier, and this is the best choice I
suggests.
